Job Description

We are looking for a Project Request Coordinator. In EWB we receive project requests from potential partners in developing countries. The first step is to critically review the project requests to assess if it is a project in which EWB should work in. The project must meet the following criteria:

  • Engineering based
  • Locally requested
  • No competition
  • Level 3 aid project
  • Sustainable (FIETS criteria)

In order to select the right project, it is necessary to get in contact with the requester to better understand the project need and assess the context in order to understand if the involvement from EWB is necessary. This role involves close collaboration with the board of EWB. You will be involved in the decision-making process for accepting new projects.

Main Activities

  • Evaluate project requests from local parties (communities, NGO’s, entrepreneurs)
  • Work with a local partner towards a feasible project request
  • Optimize the existing project request system (request form, checklist, approval procedure)
  • Bridge knowledge between the board and the local parties
  • Report project request progress to EWB board


  • Critical mindset, being able to ask the right questions in the right way
  • Good communication skills and understanding the complexity of communicating with potentially local partners in developing countries
  • Experience working in projects or organizations for development aid is preferred
  • Experience in the engineering sector is preferred;
