Job Description

Our volunteers use their computers every single day. We have meetings via google meet or other applications. We use google drive and g-mail and have our own website. In order to make sure that all our volunteers can work smoothly, we need someone who can monitor our IT activity. In order to make sure that everything runs smoothly, we would love to add an IT expert to our team.  

You will be involved in the entire IT structure of EWB-NL and are more than welcome to add improvements!

IT tools

At EWB-NL, we use several IT tools, for example:

  • Google Workspace for files (Google Drive) 
  • E-mail (G-mail), groups, and meetings
  • Website (hosted online – WordPress ) 
  • Google Data Studio 

We also have a domain that needs to be managed. For internal communication, we have dashboards in Google Data Studio.

Main Activities

We need someone with IT knowledge to support us with the following tasks:

  • Manage accounts and internal policies;
  • Keep our data safe and ensure privacy for all stakeholders;
  • Help to automate and to streamline our processes;
  • Manage the template and automation of our internal dashboard; 

We would love to have someone who can proactively help us with the following: 

  • Improving the tools we use to communicate and share content;
  • Proposing new ways to work together, share, and learn from each other; 
  • Working with the web design team to release a new website in 2021; 
  • Be there when volunteers have IT-related questions. 

Skillsets

If different IT problems arise, you are the one that finds out how they can be solved. IT gives you energy. You can easily explain to our volunteers how the problem or issue can be solved or find a better way! 

You have: 

  • Critical mindset, being able to ask the right questions in the right way; 
  • Good communication skills and being able to explain IT problems in simple ways to our volunteers; 
  • Experience with IT problems; 
  • Can actively evaluate our IT tools and suggest or make improvements; 
  • Discuss improvement points or different tools;
  • Having fun while helping us with our IT structure.

Remuneration

All the openings at Engineers without Borders are unpaid volunteer positions. We dedicate our free time to improve life in developing countries and have fun and a great learning experience by doing so. Our only expectation is that you dedicate the amount of free time you feel comfortable with and commit to this.
