Design Challenge Executive

Design Challenge Executive

Job Description

Design Challenge Executive

What if your ideas could enable affordable access to electricity in the poorest regions of the world? What about a solution for collecting and storing rainwater for the dry season? Or sustainable lighting for rural communities?

These are only some of the challenges that EWB-NL is called to solve every year together with our local partners. Sometimes, the challenges are so complex and diverse to require teaming up for success.

This is the key idea behind our Design Challenges: many beautiful minds working together to find engineering solutions for a better future.

We’re looking for someone who is willing to do one step forward by coordinating the effort in organizing and coordinating our design challenges.

The Design Challenges

The design Challenges are one full day experiences, during which participants work in teams on life changing solutions for the real problems that marginalized communities face every day. The challenges are real cases requested by our local partners. The participants of our challenges are teamed up in groups with different professional backgrounds to foster creativity through diversity.

At the end of the day, all teams pitch their solutions and a jury selects the winning concept, which will be invited to be developed further and eventually to be implemented.

So this is not only a one day event, but it is the first step to deliver a concrete project with real benefits for local communities.

The team

The organization of the Design Challenges is coordinated by EWB-NL Event Team in collaboration with the Project Portfolios, our local partners and our key partners.

The ambition of our Team is to enhance wider community engagement and commitment through inspirational and educational events.

  • You find suitable locations for the organization of the challenge;
  • You are available 4h/per week to the organization of the event (with possible peakwork moments just before the event) and to meet at least once every 2 weeks in person in Rotterdam.
